Find out about how blindness affects children and their families.

How does blindness affect children ?

Blindness and visual impairment affects children both directly and indirectly. Visual impairment in a child limits their access to educational and self-development opportunities.

Children who have a blind parent or grandparent also face the same issues. They may be sighted but because of their situation, they don't often get to go to school. In many cases they stay at home and become the primary carer.
